It’s hard to remember when you didn’t feel overwhelmed and like you’re barely holding it together. You’re stuck and it seems like one more challenge and you’ll be in chaos-mode, scrambling to find a way back to just keeping your head above water. Sometimes the rush of anxiety or panic is so uncomfortable that it’s impacting your ability to concentrate and follow through on plans or work. You want relief so that you can get your life back.
The shame and anxiety you’re feeling makes it hard to feel connected and like you belong. You’d like to reach out to others and build solid relationships but worry that if others saw what was going on for you, they would judge you or wouldn’t be able to understand what you face every day. The truth is you’re also judging yourself harshly at times and believe you need to be hard on yourself if anything is going to change, only to find that you retreat into familiar patterns of shutting down, self-doubt and self-criticism.
It’s Time for a Change
You’ve tried all the self-help and self-care that you know to do but the overwhelm and self-doubt keep pulling at you. Advice from the people in your life that’s intended as helpful sounds nice, but frankly it’s making you feel more lost and isolated when it doesn’t work or when it’s a struggle to try and make small changes. Despite the struggles you’ve been facing, there’s that glimmer of hope that somehow you can find the relief and change you’ve been searching for. You’re not sure what those steps are but you are ready to reach out for support and ask for help so that you can finally live your life with more calm and confidence in who you are!
My Name is Eric, and I’m Here to Help
I’m a Portland therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor and I help adults find ways to heal through times of anxiety and struggles with shame and self-criticism. As a queer therapist, I also have a passion for supporting other people within the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer + community to address the unique ways that wounding can happen as we move through the world around us. Just as each of us feels pain differently, I know that healing looks different for each of us as well. With empathy and experience, I’ll help you uncover the healing strategies that work best for you so that, together, we can build practices to carry you through life’s highs and lows.
